Inpainting
Related tutorialInpainting is a way to edit part of an image without redoing the whole thing. You paint a mask over the area you want to change, describe what should appear there, and the model fills that region in, blending it with the surrounding pixels so the edit looks natural.
It is commonly used to remove an unwanted object, fix a distorted hand, swap a background detail, or add something new to an existing picture.
In tendre.red, inpainting lives in the Retouch tab: paint the zone with the Brush, adjust it with the Mask and Eraser tools, then press Retouch to regenerate it. A separate Remove toggle uses SAM to select and erase an object on its own, with no prompt needed. It runs locally on your GPU and needs no license.
